Honors Program Application

The Honors Program application is a major factor in accepting students to the Honors Program and for selecting recipients of Honors Program scholarships. In order to be eligible to apply, students must meet one of the following criteria:

  • 3.5 unweighted GPA
  • or qualifying test score of 1200 SAT, 25 ACT, or 78 CLT
  • Note: if you are a first-time student, your Honors Program application must include a test score even if the test score does not meet the minimum score criteria listed above.

The Honors Program Application includes four elements:

  1. Standard Acceptance to Montreat College as a first-time or transfer student.  First-time applicants must submit a test score as part of their application file.
  2. Short-Essay Responses
  3. Professional Resume emailed to admissions@montreat.edu
  4. Letters of Recommendation (one academic and one personal) emailed to admissions@montreat.edu*
    *(If you are also applying to the Cybersecurity program you may submit the same letters of recommendation, but they need to be submitted separately to each respective application.)

The Honors Program application is a major factor in selecting recipients for new-student Honors Program scholarships. Here are some tips to consider before you begin the Honors application process:

  • Take your time in planning and writing your responses. Don’t rush. The deadline to submit your Honors Program application is January 15, 2024.
  • Answer the questions on a separate Word document, so you can paste your answers into the online application later.
  • Read each question carefully and answer the questions completely. Be honest and thoughtful in your responses. This is our chance to meet you and to know why you are interested in our Montreat Honors Program community!
  • Follow the word-count recommendations on the application. The short essays, in particular, are designed for you to demonstrate how you think through and write about concepts.
  • Double-check your responses for correct spelling, grammar, punctuation and sentence structure.
