A Lead Facilitator (LF) is responsible for the normal operations on the challenge course. With help from assistant facilitators, the LF directs client groups through challenge course elements, knows the expressed needs of the group, & conducts a plan to meet their needs. The LF is the person-in-charge while any client group is operating on the course. LF maintains control and provides for the safety, comfort, & security of groups. LF is responsible for providing any emergency operations that may be necessary, including rescue & first aid as needed. The LF is responsible for setting up the course before an event, and taking the course down at its conclusion, including ensuring that any required documentation is completed. The LF is responsible to be aware of what is happening on the entire course at all times that he/she is in charge of the course. The LF reports directly to the Course Director.
Essential Job Skills
- Must have read the entire TLC Challenge Course Manual from cover to cover
- Able to supervise & implement an entire low or high ropes program using their knowledge/experience.
- Willing to work alongside other challenge course staff & supervise assistant facilitators
- Help develop and foster a positive/enthusiastic learning environment
- Good physical health (able to perform all physical job duties as necessary. Including but not limited to: wearing & hauling safety equipment, climbing elements 6+ feet off the ground (leading edge environment), carrying or moving loads 30+ lbs., moving about freely on the ground or on high elements to assist participants, traverse elements)
- Excellent moral character & believes in the value/worth of all participants
- Willing & able to work with all types of participants from young children to senior adults in a facilitative manner
- Flexible & teachable w/teaching experience (helpful but not required)
- Interpersonal & intrapersonal skills. Willingness to process experiences to transfer learning and growth
- Maintains the upkeep of the challenge course alongside other TLC staff. Able to inspect & perform minor repairs on the course
- Assists in preparing facilities for group arrival & clean-up after groups depart
- Assures completion of all documentation of all gear used during programs/training/maintenance & inspections
Preferred Certifications
- ACCT Level I or II
Required Certifications
- Wilderness First Aid or Responder
- Basic Life Support First Aid/CPR for Adult & Child
