Lorna Hylledig

Dr. Lorna Hylledig has earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. She later earned a Master of Science degree in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Nutrition Education and Doctoral degree in Nutrition and Public Health from Columbia University Teachers College in New York. Prior to working online, she has served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition at Life University in Marietta, Georgia. In her role as Associate Professor, she facilitated a variety of graduate level and undergraduate courses primarily on campus. She also served as the Faculty Advisor to graduate students who had chosen the Special Projects Option and coordinated the Graduate Comprehensive Examination. Dr. Hylledig has also served as a Faculty Sponsor to students who proposed a research study on the effects of Diet and Vanadium Supplementation on the blood glucose levels of diabetics. Dr. Hylledig has acquired approximately 20 years of combined experience in academia as an Adjunct Professor, Assistant Professor, Department Chair, Program Director and Associate Professor at universities in the Northern and Southern USA.

Over the last 5 years, she became more involved in the development and delivery of asynchronous online courses. She has facilitated graduate courses for the University of Arizona’s Global Campus including Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Applied Behavioral Science. She has also facilitated courses in other MPH programs including Health Promotion & Social and Behavioral Health Sciences, Environmental and Occupational Health and Global Family Health. She has also recently worked with California Baptist University as an online Adjunct Faculty of Public Health. Her peers, students and clients describe her as a very passionate educator in the fields of Public Health, Health & Wellness and Nutrition. She has a love for empowering others.

Dr. Hylledig is also experienced in Academic Program Development and the Self-Study and Accreditation process. Dr. Hylledig is a nationally Registered Dietitian (R.D) and a Licensed Dietitian (L.D) in the state of Florida. Her non-academic professional experiences include serving in the capacity of Program Director for a Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program as well as a Private Practitioner of Nutrition and Medical Nutrition Therapy in the state of Georgia. She currently lives in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She feels fully at peace in South Florida. She loves the beaches, the lakes, the palm trees, and the weather. She also shares a love for global travel with her husband and her children. Dr. Hylledig is originally from Guyana, South America and her husband is from Copenhagen, Denmark. She has two grown children.
