Noel Beruman, a Senior majoring in Human Services at Montreat College, has just signed a minor league baseball contract with the Midwest Sliders (Waterford, MI) in the Frontier League, an independent minor league system. Read More


Montreat College Baseball announces the signing of local standout Lewis Fraser. Fraser is currently a senior at Owen High School where he plays for Head Coach Anthony Lee. In a stellar senior campaign, Fraser goes into the final regular season game with some outstanding statistical accomplishments. With a win-loss record of 5-2, he has struck out 73 batters in 45.1 Innings pitched while maintaining an earned run average of 0.93. Read More


Coach Robinson has recently announced the addition of his newest recruit, University Christian’s Terrell Mosley. Mosley will officially become a Cavalier this fall after averaging 17 points, eight assists, and five rebounds per game while playing for University Christian High School. Mosley was also recognized for being a 1000+ point scorer for his high school career. He averaged 88% from the free throw line and 45% from behind the three point line. Read More


Jill Breedin remembers. She remembers late nights finding her son not in his bed. She remembers seeing him run off after cleaning horse stalls. She remembers him coming home from games and disappearing around the house. Danial Breedin always ended up the same place - the basketball court. "He would shoot all the time," Jill said. "You would hear him out there shooting in the middle of the night, and he'd come home from games and go right outside to shoot." That practice served Danial well - during his career he earned offensive player of the year and all conference honors; was named to all-tournament teams in the Western Highland Conference, Colvard Oil Holiday Tournament, and Unimin Harvest Hoops Tournament; and he set the record for free-throw percentage at Mitchell High School in 2007 at 89 percent before breaking it in the 2007-08 season by shooting with 95 percent accuracy. His playing style caught the eye of Rob Brendle, assistant coach at Montreat College, who offered Danial a scholarship to play for the Cavaliers. Danial jumped at it. Read More


The Lady Cavs split a pair of games with Mountain State University yesterday, 5-8 and 12-11. Leading Montreat in game one was Erin Cross (Morganton, NC) and Amy Vogel (Hays, NC). "I felt Erin and Vogel played extremely well, especially when we needed them to," said Coach Duvall. Cross and Vogel both went 2-for-4 at the plate. Mary Montgomery also had a great game, going 1-for-2 with two walks, a pair of stolen bases, and a triple. Montreat went on to lose the first game of the series, 5-8. Read More
