Chaplain’s Office

We are cultivators. We teach from a Christ-centered curriculum, we have faculty who are dedicated to helping you connect your faith to your education, and we provide chapel and convocation programs to enliven your walk with Christ. We’re here to walk with you and help you grow– academically and spiritually.

A message from the chaplain

The Role of Chaplain

Jesus calls us to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength. It is my responsibility as chaplain to provide opportunities to grow the entire person in all of those areas. This is accomplished through opportunities for worship, study, service, and keeping the College’s Christ-centered mission in focus with every endeavor.

Spiritual Life at Montreat College

Christ’s influence in our lives orients our service to all of our students. Spiritual life at Montreat College is overseen by the chaplain and a Spiritual Life Committee made up of students and faculty under the leadership of the chaplain. We seek to integrate what happens in the classroom with our formal worship services and the everyday life of students and faculty. Convocation and Chapel services are held each Monday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. In addition to this there are numerous other opportunities offered to students for spiritual growth, such as dorm Bible studies, vespers and prayer groups.

Service at Montreat College

Scripture teaches that “faith without works is dead” (James 2:17).  Another important part of the spiritual life of the college is providing opportunities to put into practice what we preach about being student-focused and service-driven.  To promote opportunities of service for our students, Ryan Watkins acts as the Director of Service and Outreach by coordinating service opportunities for our community locally, nationally and even internationally. Students coming to Montreat College can anticipate being encouraged not only to believe, but also to live lives committed to Jesus Christ.
