Course descriptions: This course highlights contemporary issues and perspectives on organizational leadership, multi-disciplinary perspectives, and leadership models. Students will learn the distinction between leadership and management, collaboration strategies, and how to manage organizational behaviors, with an emphasis on real-life application of their personal philosophy of leadership.
Course objectives:
- Students will describe contemporary issues and perspectives on organizational leadership.
- Students will highlight the distinction between leadership and management.
- Students will compare and contrast a variety of leadership theories.
- Students will survey strategies for developing and articulating a vision, leading using collaboration, and strategies to manage organizational behavior.
- Students will analyze both effective and ineffective leadership strategies.
- Students will develop and articulate a personal leadership statement integrating personal faith.
- Students will use proper APA writing conventions and standards.
BUSN 5809: Communication Skills for Organizational Change (3 credit hours)
Course descriptions: This course explores the communication tools available to help organizational leaders for institute change, perception, and organizational growth. Students will examine and evaluate communication in a variety of formats, including dyadic, small group, formal and informal communication, and practice developing their personal communication skills.
Course objectives:
- Students will be able to survey a variety of communication tools and strategies.
- Students will be able to evaluate communication tools and strategies for instituting change, perception, and organizational growth.

BUSN 5838: Leading Organizational Change (3 credit hours)
Course descriptions: The only constant in organizations is change. In this course, students explore the concepts and practical techniques of organizational design and change, with an emphasis on change management, organizational design, and change strategies.
Course Objective: Students will explore the leader’s role in creating and preventing change, and strategies for coping with organizational resistance.
