If you’re a recent high school graduate looking to start your college journey in the U.S., Montreat College is ready to welcome you! To apply, you’ll need:

  • Application for AdmissionApply online for free!
  • Official Transcripts – Submit a translated transcript of your secondary school record with a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.75. We require a transcript evaluation through InCred.
  • Proof of English Proficiency – If English is not your first language, submit one of the following:
    • Duolingo – Minimum score: 95
    • TOEFL – Minimum score: 75
  • F-1 Student Visa Eligibility – We are authorized to issue I-20 forms for students applying for an F-1 visa. Students must enroll full-time.

If you’ve already begun your college education and want to transfer to Montreat College, we make the process simple. Standard admission requirements include:

  • Application for AdmissionApply online for free!
  • College Transcripts – Submit transcripts from all previously attended colleges showing a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
  • Proof of English Proficiency – If English is not your first language, submit one of the following:
    • Duolingo – Minimum score: 95
    • TOEFL – Minimum score: 75
    • Note: This requirement may be waived for students transferring from a U.S. institution who have successfully completed college-level English I or II with a grade of C or higher.
  • Transcript Evaluation – If you attended a college outside the U.S., you must submit a course-by-course evaluation through one of the following services:

Since obtaining a student visa and preparing for your move to the U.S. takes time, be sure to submit your application and documents by the deadlines below.

For Fall Semester

  • June 1 – Application Deadline
  • July 1 – Missing Information Deadline (Submit all transcripts, evaluations, exam results, housing form, financial obligation form, medical forms, and payment.)

For Spring Semester

  • October 15 – Application Deadline
  • November 15 – Missing Information Deadline (Submit all transcripts, evaluations, exam results, housing form, financial obligation form, medical forms, and payment.)

Before an I-20 form can be issued, students must:

  • Have applied and been accepted to Montreat College
  • Submit final, official transcripts and test scores (TOEFL, SAT, ACT, or IELTS)
  • Submit the housing form and an advanced deposit of $150 (USD) issued to the student once they have been accepted
  • Submit the International Student Financial Obligation Form with a bank statement
  • Submit completed Montreat College medical forms issued to the student once they have been accepted
  • Submit any balance due, in full, for the term in which they intend to enroll

Once all of the items above have been reviewed and approved, and all necessary paperwork is in order, a determination on the issuance of an I-20 will be made. Montreat College has the right to refuse the issuance of an I-20 for any reason and may request additional information at any time prior to or after an I-20 has been issued. Please remember that we are authorized to grant I-20 forms for the purposes of obtaining an F-1 student visa only. In order to receive an F-1 visa, you must be a full-time student.
