Montreat College is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative project manager and communicator to join a team of dedicated marketing and communications professionals. Summary
This 12-month, full-time, exempt position reports to the VP of Marketing and Communications. The Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of marketing and communication projects across the college. This includes coordinating timelines, managing tasks, and maintaining strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure communications align with institutional goals.
The Director plays a central role in ensuring the Marketing and Communications Office operates efficiently, maintains consistency in messaging, and supports the college’s brand and strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead project management processes for all marketing and communication efforts, including intake, scheduling, tracking, and completion of deliverables.
- Serve as liaison to campus departments, understanding their communication needs and helping shape effective marketing strategies.
- Collaborate with team members to align content creation and delivery timelines.
- Promote major college events (fundraising events, donor engagement, conferences, summer camps, lectures, visit events, etc.) through appropriate marketing channels.
- Assist with the development of marketing plans that support student recruitment, donor engagement, and public visibility.
- Oversee content calendars for Montreat College’s various social media accounts; evaluate alignment with communication goals and engagement trends.
- Supervise and mentor a team of 4+ student workers and potentially full-time direct reports, including training, scheduling, and project assignments.
- Support internal operational needs such as budgeting, resource tracking, and invoice management.
- Facilitate brainstorming sessions, intake meetings, and debriefs to ensure continuous improvement.
- Monitor industry trends and bring forward new ideas that strengthen Montreat College’s communication efforts.
- Review content produced by other team members and stakeholders to ensure adherence to brand standards and internal style guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven project management skills: ability to coordinate multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of execution.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships across departments.
- Familiarity with higher education audiences and the ability to communicate effectively with prospective students, current students, parents, alumni, donors, and community partners.
- Experience with digital marketing platforms, email marketing systems, and basic media production tools.
- Demonstrated skills in one or more of the following: copywriting, graphic design, digital marketing, social media management, photography, or video production.
- Detail-oriented mindset with excellent organizational and quality control skills.

Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in project management or communications roles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress), CRMs, and project management tools (e.g., Asana, Basecamp).
- Understanding of digital communication trends, web content strategies, and social media management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in higher education or non-profit environments.
- Experience in team supervision or leadership.
- Comfort managing multiple deadlines, stakeholders, and deliverables simultaneously.
- Enthusiasm for Christian higher education and a collaborative team culture.
