Dr. Alex Sosler

Dr. Alex Sosler joined the Montreat College faculty in 2018 as an assistant professor of Bible and ministry. Prior to coming to Montreat, Dr. Sosler served as pastoral assistant at Cornerstone Church in Aurora, Ohio, and as an associate pastor at Milwood Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. He has an identity rooted in the local church and sees his call to academia as a way to further the mission of local churches through equipping students and supporting churches. He is currently a member of Redeemer Anglican Church in Asheville.
Dr. Sosler is a graduate of Southern Evangelical Bible College (B.A. Religious Studies) and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. in Missions and Evangelism, Ed.D. in Higher Education/Spiritual Formation). His dissertation focuses on the teleological priorities of Christian higher education. His research interests are centered around the areas of faith formation, education, and arts and culture. He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society and the Society of Professors in Christian Education.
Dr. Sosler is from Cleveland, Ohio, and cherishes all things Cleveland. He is married to Lauren and father to Mariela Grace, Auden Augustine, and Jude Adeodatus. Their home is committed to hospitality, which pairs well with their love of good coffee and good food.
