Montreat College has announced an expansion of its Teacher Education program with the addition of new Secondary Education and special subject concentrations.
Montreat College’s Teacher Education program now offers a pathway to a Bachelor of Science degree with North Carolina Initial Licensure, equipping future educators to make a lasting impact in classrooms and communities. Rooted in a Christ-centered foundation, the program prepares future teachers through courses that emphasize character, compassion, and a sense of calling.
With the expansion of the program, students can now pursue licensure through multiple concentrations, including:
- Elementary Education (K–6)
- Secondary Education: English (Grades 9–12)
- Secondary Education: History (Grades 9–12)
- Health and Physical Education (K–12)
Each concentration builds on a core focused on practical experience, pedagogy, and professional preparation, equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and spiritual discernment needed to guide students in an ever-changing world.
“The demand for qualified, passionate teachers has never been greater,” said Amy Flagler, the Director of Teacher Education. “This expansion allows Montreat College to more fully equip future educators to educate, inspire, and serve students at every stage of learning.”
