Laurel Schneider is the Department Chair of Business and Technology and Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity, bringing over 25 years of diverse experience in business, technology, and management. She is the Fractional Chief Information Security Officer for Vytal Health and MedServe, directing their enterprise information security strategies. Previously, she was Vice President of IT at United Way of Greater Milwaukee, overseeing technology infrastructure, electronic giving, and transaction processing.

She specializes in threat detection, prevention, mitigation, and secure coding, focusing on regulatory compliance like HIPPA, Sarbanes Oxley, and PCI. Academically, she has experience in face-to-face and online teaching, course development, and program design since 2009. She was formerly the Program Director for undergraduate cybersecurity and the National Cybersecurity Institute Director at Excelsior College.

Laurel’s military background enriches her pedagogical approach to diverse learner demographics. She is working toward a DBA from Northcentral University, focusing on computer and information security. Her credentials include various certificates and degrees, including an MBA, a post-master’s certificate in computer and information security, and a graduate certificate in cybersecurity Technology. Her research interests center on security awareness, social engineering, and the human aspect of cybersecurity risk.
