Dr. John N. “Hub” Powell

Dr. Hub Powell arrived at Montreat College in 2005. He has also served as a faculty member at Lees-McRae College and Greenville Technical College. Additionally, he has served as a business consultant for Clemson University’s Small Business Development Center and as a production manager for Milliken & Company. Dr. Powell earned his B.S. in business management from Mars Hill College in 1985, his M.B.A. from Western Carolina University in 1987, and his D.B.A. in management from Argosy University (Sarasota, FL) in 2003. Dr. Powell’s research interests lie in the area of leadership, and he is currently working on research that examines Generation Y’s perceptions of effective leadership.
Dr. Powell has been married to his wife, Kathy, for 23 years, and they have four children. He is actively involved in his church’s youth ministry and is an ordained deacon. In addition, he has taught Sunday School for youth through young married couples. He is interested in politics, automobiles, and the shooting sports. He and his family have resided in Asheville for six years.
