We’re set in the southern Appalachian Mountains, adjacent to the Pisgah National Forest, which makes Montreat a perfect place for immersion in your subject matter. You can learn experientially—whether inside the classroom or outdoors. Our Biology program grounds you in the fundamental concepts and methodologies of the biological sciences. You’ll engage in scientific research and investigate the relationships between biology and other fields of study, including social and environmental sciences. Biologists must have an understanding of the ethical and worldview implications involved in the application of their knowledge. At Montreat, you’ll be challenged to understand these implications through in-depth inquiry and discussion.
