Prof. Emily Adair joined Montreat College as a Visiting Professor of English in 2021. She earned her B.S. in Communication Studies: Digital Media from Montreat College in 2017, and her M.A. in English Literature from Gardner-Webb University in 2020. While a student at Montreat she was a Writing Scholar, Assistant Resident Director, Literary Magazine Editor, Film Festival Director, and Valedictorian of her graduating class. Prior to returning to Montreat she served in the private sector working in the hospitality and tourism industry. Her roles have included areas of specialty in: Talent Acquisition, Training & Organizational Development, Property Management, and Travel Writing.
When she’s not in the classroom Prof. Adair enjoys hiking the Mountains-to-Sea trail, long rides on her motorcycle, landscape photography, delving into Asheville area history and culture, and analyzing the cultural implications of the newest show or movie. Prof. Adair’s academic areas of interest are: the study of contemporary texts (21st century), Gothic literatures, monster theory, popular culture, and film studies.
