Montreat College announced today the opening of a new Exercise Science Lab on its Montreat campus. Work on the lab commenced this past summer and was completed in time for use this semester. The lab is located In Morgan Hall, which is home to the college’s Exercise Science program.
“The new Exercise Science Lab is a tangible step forward for our Exercise Science students,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Greg Kerr. “It is an exciting opportunity for our students to get real world, hands-on experience.”
The Exercise Science Lab is equipped for state-of-the-art assessments of athletic performance and physical heath. The lab includes a metabolic cart, advanced treadmill, and Monark bike to assess oxygen consumption as a measure of aerobic physical fitness. The equipment enables students to learn how VO2 is used with elite athletes, cardiac patients, or even assessing the fitness of an everyday person.
