Montreat College students who wish to pursue a law degree now have an easier path towards that goal thanks to an articulation agreement between the college and Lincoln Memorial University’s Duncan School of Law.
Duncan School of Law at Lincoln Memorial University is located in Knoxville, TN. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to offer the Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, and provisionally approved by the American Bar Association.
Although Montreat College does not have a pre-law program per se, law schools accept qualified candidates from a variety of academic backgrounds, and the emphasis on writing, verbal skills, and analytical thinking provided by Montreat’s curriculum prepares students to pursue a career in the law.
Benefits under the agreement between Montreat College and the Duncan School of Law at LMU (DSL-LMU) include LSAT preparation assistance, a reduced tuition that may be renewed by meeting minimum GPA requirements, and a full scholarship for one student to be selected by Montreat College based on LSAT score and GPA.
Three seats in each year’s class at DSL-LMU will be reserved for qualified Montreat College graduates under the agreement, with the understanding that those students will meet all application and admission requirements.
