The annual Inklings Weekend—inspired by the members of Oxford’s legendary Inklings group, which included authors J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Owen Barfield, and Charles Williams—returns to Montreat College on from Friday, April 11 through Sunday, April 13, 2014. This year’s weekend is titled “The Hope of Our Calling” and will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the publication of Tolkien’s “The Fellowship of the Ring.” Featured speakers include Genesis Arts Trust founder Nigel Goodwin, former Kilns resident Ryan Pemberton, and authors Don King (“C.S. Lewis, Poet: The Legacy of His Poetic Impulse”), Hal Poe (“C.S. Lewis Remembered,” “The Inklings of Oxford”), and Ben Mitchell (“Does God Need Our Help?: Cloning, Assisted Suicide, & Other Challenges of Bioethics”). The weekend also includes a Saturday banquet in the Great Hall featuring an “Inklings Evening” presided over by Nigel Goodwin.

The registration fee for Inklings Weekend is $75 ($25 for students). For more information, click here or contact Dr. Hal Poe at
