Sarah Malinak, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling student at the Asheville campus of Montreat College, was selected as a 2013 Emerging Leader for the North Carolina Counseling Association. Malinak will be recognized at the North Carolina Counseling Association Conference in Greensboro, which takes place February 20 to 22. The 2013 Emerging Leaders is new for the NCCA, and Malinak was among nine graduate students selected across 17 training programs in North Carolina.

Dr. Angela Shores, MACMHC program director and assistant professor of counseling, nominated Malinak. She shared, “Not only does Sarah demonstrate a dedication to her academic studies, but she also presents a willingness to go ‘above and beyond’ outside of class in order to make the most of her opportunities…When I think of an emerging leader for the counseling profession, Sarah absolutely fits the definition of what that would be.”
