Starting in January 2013, Montreat College will launch two online programs: a bachelor of business administration and a master of science in management and leadership. Montreat College has had online courses for years, but these are the first two completely online degree programs offered at the college.

The instruction will be asynchronous, meaning students can listen to lectures, respond to discussion posts, and complete exams at different times throughout the day. This kind of course delivery model provides tremendous flexibility for working professionals who must balance their career, family, and community responsibilities while advancing their education.

Courses will be offered in a sequential 16-week term schedule, and both programs will take about two years to complete.

Senior Vice President and Provost Marshall Flowers, Ph.D., explained, “The Montreat College online experience gives our students exactly the education they need, exactly the way they need it.” He continued, “While distinct in its delivery and operation, the online modality provides the same high-quality information, instruction, and opportunities for interaction with faculty and students.”

President Dan Struble, Ph.D., looks forward to broadening the reach of Montreat College through the new online initiative.  “We have tremendous academic programs to offer, and we don’t want to limit our education to only those who can fit into our schedules and meet in our locations.” He continued, “Our new online programs open up opportunities for people to advance their careers through a Christ-centered education that fits their busy lives better than ever before.”
