For the third consecutive year, Montreat College has earned the distinction of “Military Friendly School” by the Military Advanced Education magazine, a respected publication with a distinct focus on higher education opportunities for military personnel.  This honor follows an exhaustive application process and thorough examination of educational services, particularly Montreat College’s School of Adult and Graduate Studies programs.

“Being a veteran, I understand the unique challenges that veterans face when choosing to return to college,” says Jonathan Shores, Montreat College’s Vice President for Marketing and Enrollment. “We are excited that Military Advanced Education sees that our college is among the best of the best when it comes to our services geared towards veterans. We look forward to continually increasing the services we offer to veterans in order to provide a richer experience at Montreat College.”

The 2013 “Military Friendly Schools” list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

The designation is awarded based on a number of criteria that demonstrate special accommodations to those in the armed forces, including counseling support for veterans, credit for military training and service, and scholarships for military students.

VP for Marketing and Enrollment Jonathan Shores and Montreat College President Dan Struble are both veterans who served during Operation Enduring Freedom.
