Student Life

Winston Rheinbolt, ’14

WinstonRheinbolt 250pxI was lucky enough to be recruited by Coach Jose Larios, the man I credit for properly introducing me to Montreat College. I had been in the area before and known a few students, but I had not visited the campus until Coach Larios brought me in. Now, Montreat has become another home to me. I spent two years studying and running Cross Country and Track, and then joined the USAFR (United States Air Force Reserves). Once I finished that training, I returned to complete my studies. At that point, I could’ve gone anywhere, but instead, I returned to this beautiful college in the mountains.

Montreat and a few key students have played an important role in helping me re-discover God and I am very grateful for them. The close-knit community between professors and students is fantastic. I learn just as much sitting at lunch, with friends and a professor, as I do sitting in their classroom. Being able to easily speak to them along with the two coach’s I’ve had has made my experience at Montreat an unforgettable one.
