Student Life

Alyssa Klaus, ’14

I would say that in a very real sense, God chose Montreat for me. By the end of my first campus visit, I knew that this was where I wanted to go. I was overwhelmed by not only the sheer beauty of the campus, but of infinitely more importance, the warmth shown to me by everyone I met. Whereas the larger Christian schools I had visited were more interested in my ACT score and adding me to their numbers, I felt that Montreat was more interested in me as a person and what I wanted to do with my life.

The College arranged for me to meet with some of the faculty of the English department—which was something no other school had done—and this was the deciding factor. I remember meeting with Dr. Kimberly Angle in her office and thinking over and over again in the hour that we talked, “wow, she understands me and really is interested in what I have to say.” That is why I chose Montreat. Every student wants to go to a school where they are heard and seen not as a number, but as another student for their professors to invest in.
