The Outdoor Education major combines the disciplines of Adventure Education and Environmental Education from a Christian worldview. The Outdoor Ministry major combines the disciplines of Christian Education and Outdoor Education.
The purpose of the Outdoor Education Department is to develop Christ-centered Outdoor Educators. By combining discussion-oriented classes with real-world experience, students learn to teach in, through, and about the outdoors. |

The Montreat College Outdoor Education Immersion Semester program departs January 20th for the backcountry of Montana. The program begins with a winter wilderness expedition where the students travel on telemark skis and sleep in snow shelters. This is followed by an eight-day Wilderness First Responder training. Montreat College partners with Camp Big Horn in Plains, MT for this phase of the semester. The program is open to students from other colleges and universities or those just interested in the Certificate in Wilderness Leadership provided for those who successfully complete the program.
