CAREER HELP AVAILABLE FOR ALUMNI AND STUDENTS
By Tom Oxenreider, Director of Career Development

Greetings! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Tom Oxenreider and I serve the Montreat College community as the director of the Office of Career Development.

The Office of Career Development helps students and alumni in the process of discovering where and how to use their gifts and talents in the world of work to the glory of God. This is exciting work. We work with new students to help them choose a career direction. We help sophomores and juniors with internships and summer jobs. We help seniors with job and graduate school searches.

We could use your help. Your knowledge and career experience is invaluable to Montreat College students. There are some ways that you may be able to help our students. If there are any positions, internships or summer jobs available at your place of employment, please contact us to list those positions to our students and alumni. You can volunteer your time as a McSOURCE Career Mentor and help students that are interested in your career field. If you are interested in helping, simply return the coupon below and I’ll be in touch.

I welcome your input and questions – please call me at 704-669-8012 ext. 5101.

Career Development offers the following services to alumni:
  • On-line career information and job postings at www.montreat.edu by clicking on "alumni."
  • Admission to the Western North Carolina Career Consortium Job Fair held each spring in Asheville (date to be announced).
  • Career counseling by appointment, phone and e-mail.
  • Resume critiques by fax or mail.
  • Access to the resources in the career library at Montreat.

You can help students and other alumni by:

  • Contacting the Office of Career Development about available positions at your business or place of employment;
  • Giving a Montreat College student an internship experience;
  • Helping a recent grad or alum who is relocated to your area;
  • Serving as a volunteer career mentor for students interested in your profession.

If you are interested in these services or are able to help with time or job opportunities, contact the Office of Career Development at 704-669-8012 ext. 5101 or e-mail toxenreider@montreat.edu.
