Montreat to honor Mangum and Campbell with the Distinguished Alumni Service Award

Montreat College will also honor Mr. Willie R. Mangum, Jr. ’88 and Mrs. Diane E. Campbell ’08 with the Distinguished Alumni Service Award at its 2014 Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 10.
 
Willie Mangum graduated from Montreat College in 1988 with a B.A. in Human Services, and went on to complete an M.A. in Theological Studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. Following a career in working with young adults in enrollment and admissions at Belhaven College, Montreat College, and Bethel College, and serving as a customer service manager with Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Mr. Mangum moved into the film and television industry. He founded Lydian Stone Entertainment in January 2013 and is currently working on a reality television series about everyday Americans doing amazing things with host, American Idol top-ten finalist, Chris Sligh. Mr. Mangum is president of the Board of Directors for World Impact Now and volunteers as race director for Chosen Charlotte: a benefit race for adoptive families and orphans worldwide.  He also serves as an ex-officio member of the Montreat College Board of Trustees and is the Montreat College Alumni Association Board president. He currently serves on the Missions Committee of his home church, Ballantyne Presbyterian Church, and has traveled on 13 overseas missions teams to Uganda, Sudan, India, the Philippines, Central America, and the Caribbean. Mr. Mangum is married to alumna Pam Mangum ’88, and they currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina.
 
Diane Campbell graduated from Montreat College in 2008 with a B.S. in Management. Ms. Campbell was the class salutatorian, member of the Pinnacle Honor Society, and was also selected as the May 2008 SPAS student commencement speaker. Her everyday demonstration of character and integrity is a contagious influence on all in the workplace and throughout the greater Charlotte community. Ms. Campbell is currently the HR Solutions Administrative Services Organization Specialist at Paychex, Inc. She has over 20 years of extensive, hands-on management and human resources experience. In addition to teaching and participating in Bible studies and Sunday School at her church, Ms. Campbell has also faithfully served members of her church as elder and moderator of the Diaconate. She initiated, coordinated, and carried the banner for “Bag Hunger” Mission Program that assisted needy people in Mint Hill, North Carolina. She is also an active member of the Clan Campbell Society of North America and Ulster-Scots Society of America. She is married to Charles Adrian (Doc) Beard and they currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mrs. Campbell has two children, two stepchildren, and ten grandchildren.
