Montreat College Awarded 2014 Military Friendly Schools ® Designation

September 10, 2013

For the fourth consecutive year, Montreat College has earned the designation of “Military Friendly School” by Victory Media, a veteran-owned business that produces the data-driven “Military Friendly Schools” list that is released for publications such as G.I. Jobs, Military Spouse and Vetrepreneurer. The honor was awarded following a thorough examination of Montreat College’s educational services, specifically in the School of Professional and Adult Studies programs.

The 2014 “Military Friendly Schools” designation is awarded to 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students, ensuring their success on campus.

“When I came out of the military, I had to rehabilitate on many levels. I don’t think everyone understands the effect of being in an environment that is designed for the task of war. When you return from service, it really takes some time to re-find yourself,” Army veteran and management and leadership online student Tracy Click explained. “I’m able to draw parallels between my experience in the military and the management and leadership curriculum. The classes teach me what I need to learn in order to be effective in a civilian workplace, and learning to reconnect with God and Christian concepts has really been valuable to me.”

An institution is eligible to receive the award based on criteria that demonstrates special accommodations to those in the armed forces, including counseling support for veterans, credit for military training and service and scholarships for military students.
