Montreat College Athletics Offering Summer Soccer Camps for Area Kids

May 31, 2012

The Montreat College men’s and women’s soccer teams are hosting three soccer camps this summer for local youth.  The camps are located in Black Mountain and will be directed and run by Courtney Nash, Montreat’s head women’s soccer coach and Aaron Kimball, the assistant coach.  Current collegiate players will also assist with the camps.

The Little Cavaliers Mini Camps are designed for children ages 4- to 8-years-old and will introduce and continue developing basic soccer skills through an environment that is both educational and fun.  The sessions will be centered on activities that teach specific skills through small games that allow the players to practice those skills first-hand.  The mini-camp will be held June 11 to 13 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and instructed by Nash, Kimball and the women’s soccer team.  The camp costs $30.00 per player.  For more information, contact Coach Nash at cnash@montreat.edu or (828) 669-8012 ext. 3427. Please note that the mini-camp scheduled from June 4 to 6 has been cancelled.

The Little Cavs Summer Camp is designed for slightly older children ranging from 5- to 12-years-old (advanced 4-year-olds may be considered).  Players will focus on developing and perfecting the fundamental skills to be a great soccer player.  The Little Cavs Camp will be held June 26 through 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  The camp costs $100 per player; need-based scholarships are available and multiple-child discounts are also available (additional child costs are $70 for the first and $50 for the second).  Included in the cost is a Montreat camp t-shirt, daily Bible teaching, an organic snack, and soccer training and games by Nash, Kimball and players from the men’s and women’s soccer teams.  For more information contact Assistant Coach Josh Riccardi at jriccardi@montreat.edu or (828) 669-8012 ext. 3415.

An optional afternoon climbing wall/ropes course session at Montreat College’s Team and Leadership Center is also available each day of the camp.  The sessions are from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and cost $25 per session.  Participants are expected to provide their own lunch.

Each camp will be held at the Howard Fisher Memorial Soccer Field located on the Black Mountain Campus at 211 Vance Avenue, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
