John DeWitt who serves as a volunteer at Montreat College and is involved in other community activities, such as the Welcome Table and a member of the Parks and Recreation Committee for the Town of Black Mountain has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the one of the nation's largest professional organization dealing with experiential education, The Association for Experiential Education.

The Association for Experiential Education (AEE) is a non-profit, professional membership organization that supports the highest caliber of leadership (educators, trainers, facilitators, therapists) in the fields that utilize the methodologies of experiential education. The Association has over 1400 members from 33 countries around the world, who are engaged in more than 15 areas of professional practice, such as wilderness adventure programs, service learning and classroom teaching. AEE members annually touch the lives of more than 500,000 students and clients, effectively and powerfully.

According to their web site, "We plan to structure this support in the form of an Advisory Council, which will work directly with the CEO to advise on issues relating to AEE policy, funding, business practices, outreach and public policy. The CEO will serve as the liaison between the Advisory Council, the Board of Directors and the membership at large."
