One of the missions of the Friends of Music is to assist the Montreat College music program. A particularly pressing need of the music program is to secure additional music scholarship funding. Because of the interest of the Friends of Music in increasing the quality and quantity of music performance activity on the Montreat campus, our board of directors has decided to inaugurate the Friends of Music Scholarship. This scholarship is merit-based and competitive. The award of this scholarship is by a jury composed of Montreat College music faculty and outside professional musicians and professors. The award criteria includes both the student's academic record and their performance at a juried competition to be held in the spring. This event is open to the public and is immediately followed by a reception and awards ceremony.
