The Bachelor of Music in Performance offers
concentrations in Piano, Organ, and Voice.
In addition to meeting the entrance requirements of the college,
the prospective music performance major must pass a performance
audition. (No audition is required for music business majors or
music minors.) Please download the
audition application
form and
information sheet (PDF). Students are encouraged to visit
the Montreat College campus and audition during our annual
audition day, usually in January. However, students who are not
able to audition on this date may make an appointment to
audition on campus at a mutually agreeable date or may send a
recording.
Requirements for a major in Music Performance include:
1. Courses required for the
general education core, including
six hours of foreign language (50 hours).
2. Performance concentration (12 hours)

5. Degree requirements for a music major total 130 semester
hours. Refer to “Requirements for Baccalaureate Degrees” in the
College Catalog for more information.
6. Performance majors must present a half-hour public recital in
their junior year and a one-hour public recital in their senior
year.
7. All performance majors must pass the keyboard proficiency
exam (see the
requirements [PDF]).
