A Program of Sacred
Classical Music

Since the organ has traditionally been the instrument of choice in the church service, it boasts a wealth of sacred music by great composers from the Baroque era to the present. The piano, on the other hand, has primarily found its place in the home and in the concert hall, so very little worship music has been written for it. Nevertheless, it has been a particular interest of mine to find and collect a few pieces from the classical keyboard literature that are appropriate for worship by virtue of their sacred titles, their relationship to hymn tunes, or their meditative quality. With the exception of two pieces, all of the works on this program were originally composed for the keyboard.
