MS 101: Introduction to Music (3): An introduction to the materials and properties of music, musical media, and categories of musical literature with a concentration in music of the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern eras. (Offered every semester)


MS 302: Worship and Church Music (3): A study of music in worship from Biblical times to the present. Students will develop a philosophy of church music with emphasis on music selection for excellence, sources, and appropriateness. Hymns, anthems, Christian music, vocal solos, and other genres of service music are analyzed.


MS 305: Survey of Musical Styles I (3): This course is designed to provide a chronological perspective of the development of Western music from the pre-Christian era to 1750, including music of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Baroque periods.


MS 306: Survey of Musical Styles II (3): This course is designed to provide a chronological perspective of the development of Western music from 1750 to 1990, including music of the Classical, Romantic, Modern, and post-Modern periods.


MS 311: Organ Literature I (2): A chronological study of the principle repertoire for Organ.


MS 312: Organ Literature II (2): A continuation of MS 311. Chronological study of the principal repertoire for Organ..


MS 313: Piano Literature I (2): A chronological study of the principle repertoire for Piano.


MS 314: Piano Literature II (2): A continuation of MS 313. Chronological study of the principal repertoire for Piano. 


MS 411: Advanced Organ Literature I (2): A continuation of MS 312. Chronological study of the principal repertoire for Organ.


MS 412: Advanced Organ Literature II (2): A continuation of MS 411. Chronological study of the principal repertoire for Organ.


MS 413: Advanced Piano Literature I (2): A continuation of MS 313. Chronological study of the principal repertoire for Piano.


MS 414: Advanced Piano Literature II (2): A continuation of MS 413. Chronological study of the principal repertoire for Organ.


MS 415: Voice Literature I (2): A comprehensive chronological study of voice literature, major style genres from 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th century song in English, German, French, and Italian are included.


MS 416: Voice Literature II (2): A continuation of MS 415. Chronological study of the principal repertoire for Voice.
