The Communications Office manages the communication and marketing of the college both internally and externally, serving the College through numerous avenues.
The Communications Office can assist by promoting College events through the website, e-blasts, social media, and local media outlets. For larger events, contact the Communications Office as soon as the event is scheduled for targeted, strategic publicity planning.
Print & Digital Projects
The Communications Office team completes over 100 print and digital projects each year. Reflection magazine, the Annual Report, and This Fall and This Spring at Montreat College are a few of our main publications. View our latest publications here. We do a variety of projects, including invitations, posters, brochures, postcards, and programs. Complete the Request a Project form for your next project. Note: Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for completion.
In an effort to promote our environmental stewardship values, we strongly recommend FSC-certification for all large print projects.
Through strong media relationships, the Communications Office seeks to publicize the College in the local media outlets. If you have a story idea, please contact the Director of Communications and Alumni Relations at email@example.com. All press releases should be sent through the Director of Communications and Alumni Relations. Please view the College’s Media Relations Policy for tips on dealing with the media. Contact the Communications Office before you proceed with an interview with the media.
Through a decentralized content management system, the Communications Office approves content updates across the website. For new webpages, changes to webpage design, and reorganization of navigation, the Communications Office will work in collaboration with the IT department to meet your needs. The Communications Office maintains an extensive photo archive that be access through our media server. Contact the Communications Office for a username and password. Social media are powerful communication tools that Montreat College departments can utilize to engage and build relationships with target audiences. We ask that if you are interested in setting up a new social media account, complete the Social Media Account Application before you begin. Also, please review the College’s Montreat College Social Media Policy before engaging with the College’s social media platforms. Contact the Communications Office for creation of new signs or banners. Please read the Town of Montreat Sign Ordinance before hanging banners or posting signs outdoors in Montreat. Both Montreat and Black Mountain require sign permits. Complete and submit a Town of Montreat Sign Permit to the Town of Montreat before posting signs or banners; it will cost $10. Complete and submit a Town of Black Mountain Sign Permit for Black Mountain signs; they require a $50 deposit and will refund once signs are removed.
