Quick bio: From “The Raven” to “Huckleberry Finn,” Dr. Rich Gray knows American literature. This English professor and department co-chair teaches courses that cover these famous works, as well as those from Ann Bradstreet, Henry David Thoreau, Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, and more. Dr. Gray also teaches English composition and the survey of English literature.
When he’s not teaching at Montreat or serving as a leader in the Conference on Christianity and Literature, Dr. Gray teaches courses on a variety of subjects at his church, Swannanoa Valley Presbyterian. He also moonlights as an amateur film reviewer, cataloguing his thoughts on all kinds of movies – ask him for his synopsis of “Ladies in Lavender” sometime.
