What if my homeschool is not a state-certified program?
No problem; you can still apply to Montreat College. Your academic
course work and performance along with your board scores and life
experiences will be evaluated to determine if you can benefit
from and contribute to the Montreat community.
How early can I begin the application process?
Students may begin applying to Montreat College in September of
their senior year.
Does Montreat accept AP credit or CLEP scores?
Yes, we do. Official copies of the AP and CLEP test results will
be required before credit is awarded. Please have these sent to
the Admissions office
for evaluation.
Will Montreat College accept college credits that I have
earned while I was still in high school?
Yes; we accept transfer credit from other regionally accredited
institutions of courses completed with a grade of "C" or better.
Courses that do not apply to a student's degree program will not
be accepted. Please be sure to include an official transcript
from the institution along with your application for admission.
As a homeschooled student, will I be eligible for financial
aid?
Of course. Homeschooled students may apply for all federal, state, and institutional
aid. (You will need to complete a Montreat College Institutional
Aid application for institutional aid and a FAFSA for federal
aid.)
Does Montreat College offer academic scholarships to homeschooled
students?
Homeschooled students are evaluated for academic scholarship in
the same way as traditional high school students. Academic scholarships
range from $1,500 to $6,000 and are based on academic performance
and/or College Board scores.
