Outdoor Education
At Montreat, you find focus. And in this program, we’re focused on developing leaders. Strong, Christ-centered outdoor educators who are equipped with historical and philosophical foundations, technical skills, and teaching expertise.
Outdoor Education major
Our Outdoor Education utilizes class discussions and field experience to teach:
- outdoor skills
- leadership training
- environmental studies
You’ll learn to teach adventure activities, team building, and environmental awareness in the context of an outdoor setting and from a biblical worldview. Our curriculum is designed to give you the skills, knowledge, and training necessary to both facilitate personal growth and interpret the natural environment.
And then we take it further. As a student, you’ll design, implement, and administer outdoor education programs that are safe, challenging, and enjoyable. Our professors assist with enthusiasm—they’re passionate about building relationships and will challenge you to be a reflective, well-rounded educator.
