Montreat College offers all students opportunities for musical training and experience. Students are encouraged to develop and share their God-given abilities by learning to sing or play an instrument, participating in musical ensembles, attending recitals and concerts, and taking courses appropriate to their level of study. The Bachelor of Arts in Music Degree equips students to succeed as a professional in the diverse world of music.

The curricula for all music programs at Montreat College are based upon a philosophy that balances professionalism and excellence in musicianship with the development of the whole person – mind, spirit, and body – through the General Education Core requirements. Underlying all we do is a commitment to the integration of faith and learning. Because music study inherently requires an intensive level of individualized instruction, the modeling of professional and Christian conduct and character by the Music faculty and their attentive care for their students distinguishes the Montreat College Music program.

Perform in one of Montreat’s Music Ensembles

Earn credit and gain experience by performing in the Montreat College Choir, the Montreat Chamber Orchestra, the Guitar Ensemble, or Montreat’s contemporary ensemble, The Movement.

College Choir

The College Choir’s repertoire spans the ages, cultures, languages and styles.

Guitar Ensemble

Students will develop skills that enable them to perform classical music on a challenging level in an ensemble setting.

Contemporary Ensemble

Students in this pop/rock band arrange and perform contemporary popular music.

Montreat Chamber Orchestra

The orchestra, which performs music of all genres and presents an annual Pops Concert, is comprised of students, faculty, staff and community members.
