We are currently accepting applications.
Where are the courses delivered?
Primarily at the main Montreat College main campus with a few online components.
Is it a residential program?
No; you will need to be at Montreat College for one weekend a month during the fall and spring semesters and for a 2-week block during the summers.
How many credits do I earn?
33 to 36 credits for the six core courses, portfolio and practicum.
Does it involve writing a thesis?
You can choose to write a thesis or complete a project. We encourage either to yield a work worthy of being published in the field of Environmental Education.
Is the program continuous?
Yes; you move through the program with the cohort that you start with. Each summer we begin a new cohort.
What does this degree course cost?
Does this include room and board?

No, this program is designed for students from a wide variety of backgrounds and we hope to expand both process and content.

Yes; this program is designed for students from a wide variety of backgrounds, and we hope to expand both process and content.
When I take this degree course, will I obtain my teaching certification?
No; this is not an educational degree program, but if you don’t already have it, you will complete most of the requirements for the North Carolina Environmental Education Certification.
What is the time expectation for completion of the Master of Science degree?
You should complete the program in 1.5 – 2 years’ time.
Can I keep my regular job and complete the Master of Science degree?
As long as you can commit to one weekend a month during the fall and spring semester and two weeks during the summer to be away from your job, you should be able to keep your job.
