Montreat College Friends of Music Presents

Heritage Aire Celtic Ensemble

On November 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Prodigal on the Montreat College campus, the Friends of Music will present the Heritage Aire Celtic Ensemble, one of nine ensemble groups that make up the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band. The Heritage Aire Celtic Ensemble has entertained audiences with its unique style of music since 2004, celebrating America’s great cultural diversity. Under the direction of TSgt Sherry Burt, the ensemble blends traditional music of Ireland, Scotland, and England with a contemporary musical style to create a stunning musical tapestry. Members perform on traditional instruments such as Irish flute, tin whistles and bodhran, as well as modern instruments like acoustic guitar and button accordion. The group recently deployed to the CENTAF area of responsibility and performed 60 concerts in 55 days around Southwest Asia and the Horn of Africa. As members of the CENTAF Band, the group raised the spirits of Joint Force members and coalition partners serving in the Global War on Terrorism. They also supported humanitarian efforts, bridging cultural divides and easing tensions with foreign nations through music. As with all of the Friends of Music concerts, this event is free to the public.
