English and Languages: Minor in English

The English minor at Montreat College gives students the opportunity
to read, discuss, and write about illuminating works in Western
Literature, and to receive instruction and practice in creative and
professional writing. Students who minor in English are prepared to work
as editors and writers in their major fields. Students develop
understanding of the world’s social and cultural conditions and learn to
communicate effectively through the written word. Montreat College offers a minor in English that requires 18 semester
hours of course work: nine hours in literature courses (with at least 12
of those hours from the 300 level or above) and nine hours of writing
courses.
