Cavaliers sweep Bryan College

Montreat 18 Bryan 7 Freshmen Seth Blevins made his first conference start of his young career but it would not go as hoped as the Bryan Lions knocked him out of the game early. Montreat head coach, Travis Little, replaced Blevins with AAC pitcher of the week Brian Greene who pitched into the sixth inning only allowing one earned run and striking out three.

The game would go back and forth for the first four innings before the Cavaliers would open it up in the fifth. Leading the way offensively was Senior Brent Ashbaugh, who went 3-3 with a walk and an RBI. Freshmen Chris Allen had a career day going 4-4 with 2 RBI. Steven Collado had 4 RBI on the day with a huge 3 run double to put the game out of reach. Senior Jesse Wise capped off a strong outing with a two run homerun and 3 RBI.

Junior Garrett Jones started game two of the conference doubleheader and had an outstanding outing. Jones gave up only four hits while striking out five and surrendering one earned run. The offense was mainly supplied by Bryan’s inability to throw strikes. In the third inning, the Lions walked six consecutive batters which opened the game wide open\. Senior Dane Phillips had a huge homerun in the game to put Montreat up to stay. Montreat College is now 20-7 and 5-1 in conference play.
