As with all Friends of Music concerts, it is free to the public. These musicians are passionate about the art of chamber music and are dedicated to bringing its magic and intensity to diverse audiences. The quartet, currently performing without a second violinist, consists of Amy Lovinger, who is principal second violinist of the Asheville Symphony and associate concertmaster of the Hendersonville Symphony; Kara Poorbaugh, the principal violist and music librarian of the Asheville Symphony and a regular performer with the Greenville (SC) and Hendersonville symphonies; and Franklin Keel, a cellist with the Asheville Symphony who has appeared as a soloist with the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony of the United Nations in Asheville as well as at local venues such as the Orange Peel and Stella Blue. They will be joined by pianist John Cobb, who has been a popular performer in the Friends of Music concert series. In addition to the piano quartet selections, the trio will perform Beethoven’s String Trio in C minor, Opus 9 Nr. 3, and other selections.
