Ashley Craig DC internship - week 3

Ashley Craig at CCCU American Studies Program in DC - 3rd week

Hey Montreat!
Its been a slow week. I could not start my internship because my security clearence has not come in yet, so I have been working on projects. We have a new project for our National Affairs class. We have to volunteer for 30 hours at the campaign of our choice. I chose to work with John McCain campaign. We have till November 5 to complete the hours, so we can work right up to the election. So far I have spent 10 hours on the phone. We have to call registered voters in Viginia and ask them to take a survey. Lets just say the responses have been varied. I will talk to people who are really nice and like taking the survey, I had one older women on the phone and she started asking me questions! She could tell I was a college student and started asking me questions about that. She was really fun to talk too. Then you get people who are very adamant about not taking the summary and alot of people hang up on you. However, everyone at the campaign headquarters are very nice and I love the atmosphere. You really feel like you are helping and making a difference. Here are a few pictures of me and my classmates working at the campaign. Then last night my roomate Divine made an amazing food and we had dinner on the roof. Divine is from Burundi, Africa so she made chicken, stew, plantanes, rotti (flat bread) and some homemade brownies and cookies. Here are a few pictures of the food and some candid shots of us at the social. It has been a great week!
