Q is produced by Montreat's students and staff and showcases the best new work produced by a diverse and talented group of poets, story writers, essayists and visual artists. The journal also seeks to stimulate discussion about the intersection of contemporary culture and the Christian faith.

Q is a unique opportunity for Montreat College students to share their best writing and visual art. This issue features a rich mixture of poetry, fiction and photography, including the following submission by Josephine Baker.

Gloria

I looked at the moon, just now, and thought of you --
reminisced those lazy, summer nights.
We’d meet just across the stream
on the shoulders of that granite friend of ours.
The berries picked one by one from wild patches
soothed our parched lips in the heat of the sunset --
while we drew pictures in the sky with fingertips --
lying on our refuge barefoot,
singing our own song.

Kimberly Angle, Assistant Professor of English and Faculty Advisor for Q, says, "At Montreat, we encourage a loving atmosphere of exploration in Creative Writing. We want students to try new things in their writing--to stretch themselves intellectually and spiritually in both content and form.  Q provides a public forum for the excellent work of Montreat students. I am continually impressed with the talent and courage of Montreat students, and we are always looking for new writers to join our writing community."
