Types of Named Scholarships
Endowed Scholarships are provided by organizations or individuals who place a lump sum or principle into an existing endowment fund or provide the $30,000 necessary to establish a new named endowment, which carries the name of the organization or person providing this tax-deductible gift or in memory or honor of a life well-lived, usually a family loved one or friend. The individual establishing the endowment determines the criteria for the scholarship recipient(s) who meet these guidelines. You may choose to support an existing endowment or establish your own.
Non-Endowed (or restricted) Scholarships provide during the academic year without the necessity of a principle investment. A person or organization establishes a named scholarship with the intent to continue funding the scholarship each year. All funds placed into this type scholarship pass through the college in support of a student who meets the predetermined criteria of the scholarship. You may choose to support an existing non-endowed scholarship or establish your own. |
