General NSO Volunteer Information
In the tradition of Montreat College, the new student orientation program highly depends on student volunteers. We have seen the positive impact of student to student leadership and believe this to be the most effective way to help orient our new students. This fall, we are expecting to see 150-200 new students on campus. These students will be broken down into groups of 12-15. Each group will have a peer leader and one small group leader assigned to them who will assist them throughout the orientation program. Therefore, we will be looking for 30-35 students for this fall’s orientation.
Purpose of Small Groups
- Provide a “personalized” experience
- Connect new students with each other and to the Montreat community
- Create an atmosphere where students feel comfortable and have the opportunity to build lasting friendships.
Application Process
There is a one page application that you must complete to be considered for a NSO volunteer position. Applications are available in the Student Services office – Belk 2nd Floor. Applications will be due April 6th. Please return them to Box 828 or drop them off in the Student Services Office. Positions will be announced no later then April 12th. Note – we will need between 30-35 volunteers this fall – so positions are limited.
