Work Study
If you are in need of financial aid, please consider participating in the Work Study program.  The program offers some great benefits:
  • You can earn money toward your education while working at Montreat.
  • You can earn extra money for yourself!
  • You can build your resume with the skills you learn from your work study position.
  • You don't have to drive to a place to work.
  • If you are placed in a community service position, you will provide valuable service to the college and contribute to the vibrant community that makes Montreat thrive.
There are many more students eligible for work study than there are positions available. You will have the opportunity to attend a job fair after classes begin.

You will be notified if you are eligible for work study.
Students must be eligible according to the federal government to receive Federal College Work Study funds. Please fill out a work study application and submit it to the Financial Aid Office.

Montreat College offers two types of Work Study: Federal Work Study and Montreat College Work Study.
  • Federal Work Study Programs provide jobs for undergraduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay educational expenses.
  • Montreat College Work Study is awarded to students who do not have a financial need. Funding is extremely limited and generally reserved for specific skilled positions such as tutors, RA's, and computer lab assistants.

Most positions pay $6.70 per hour and require about nine hours per week.

Students turn in timesheets monthly and are paid around the 15th of the following month.

We have community service positions around the community.  If you have your own transportation and have the heart to serve the community, please contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.

If you have questions about the application process, please email financialaid@montreat.edu.
