Cavaliers top NCAA Division II Lenoir Rhyne

Montreat College took to the field for the first time since their national ranking by taking on the Bears of NCAA Division II Lenoir-Rhyne College. Montreat sophomore Aaron Hughes pitched 5 and a third innings of shutout baseball only allowing four hits and registering four strikeouts. Brian Greene came out of the pen to seal the win by holding the Bears to only two hits over the final three and two thirds innings.
Senior Jesse Wise and Sophomore Adam Speas supplied all the runs the Cavaliers would need by hitting solo homeruns. Catcher Justin Cockrell would add two hits on the day as well as an RBI. Montreat College now stands at 25-8 on the season and 6-2 in the AAC. The Cavaliers will play King College on Saturday at Newell field on the Montreat College campus at 1:00 in a conference doubleheader.
