Bill Mallonee to Perform at Montreat
On Thursday, April 3, singer-songwriter Bill Mallonee, former lead singer and guitarist of the indie band Vigilantes of Love, will perform at 8:00 p.m. in Upper Anderson Auditorium in Montreat.
With the Vigilantes, Mallonee has performed in the Asheville area several times, but this will be his first area solo appearance.
With Vigilantes of Love behind him, Bill is focusing on his solo artist career. He's 8 albums into his solo work and back to being "just a guy from a college band from Athens, GA." He tours and performs with his wife, keyboardist and vocalist, Muriah Rose.
Mallonee has been privileged to play with many great artists-from John Mayer and Edwin McCain to Emmylou Harris and Dwight Yokum. The New York Press says of Mallonee, "The intelligence and intensity of Mallonee's writing has elicited comparisons to Dylan from his loyal underground admirers. Given the consistency and quality of Mallonee's work over eight albums, he is arguably the first writer since John Prine to make the comparison plausible."
Tickets are $5 at the door and free for Montreat College students with ID. For more information, call 828-660-8012, ext. 3634 or e-mail dbennett@montreat.edu. For artist information, visit www.billmallonee.net.
