Volleyball signs two great additions to next year's team

Coach Leslie Gehris and the Montreat College volleyball team is proud to announce the signing of two more solid recruits for next season's team. Anna Stephenson is a senior, middle hitter from Overhills High School near Sanford, NC. Anna was named to the 2007 Cape Fear Valley All Conference Team, 2007 Overhills High School Volleyball MVP, and the 2006 & 2007 Academic All Conference Teams. She is in the top ten percent of her class, a member of the National Honor Society and National Beta Club. Anna has played the last two year with Brick City Volleyball Club as a member of the 18 Inferno team. “We are super excited to have an experienced player like Anna become a part of our program. She has been a member of a very successful club team for the past two years and her high school team is working to build a strong program after they built their new school only four years ago. We look forward to working with Anna in the middle and right side next season. I was able to meet several of her family members at the signing and I know that they will all be a great asset to our Montreat College community.”

Christina Redman, is a senior outside/right side hitter from Sanford, NC.  She is graduating from Clay Christian School where she has been home schooled for ten years.  Christina is graduating with a GPA of above 4.0 and she has been dual enrolled at Central Carolina Community College where she has earned 20 college transfer hours.

Christina has been a member of the Brick City Volleyball Club for six years which has prepared her to step up to the challenging college schedule.

She plans to major in Outdoor Education here at Montreat College.  During her time off in the summer she works as a lifeguard and a WSI swim instructor.  This summer Christina will be a staff/counselor with TEAMeffort mission trips this summer in Tennessee.

“We are very proud to have Christina and her family as a part of the Montreat College Community.  We look forward to working with her on the right side for the 2008 season.  Christina is a hard worker and she is excited about the opportunity to play volleyball here next year.  I hope her enthusiasm will be contagious as all of the new players and returnees make their way back onto campus in August," added Coach Gehris.
